Arkansas's largest natural lake and the largest oxbow lake in North America.
Discovered by Hernando DeSoto and later named by the French explorers,
“Chicot” is French for “stumpy”. DeSoto is said to have been buried
in Lake Chicot to keep the native Indians from discovering his death. |
